Work & weekend

Last Wednesday I had my annual assessment. Because it was really a long time ago when I had the initial assessment. I asked for this one because I like to know where I stand and what should be improved. So I'd liked to be criticised.
But I only got compliments. There was one thing that I should work on. I should work on myself to say NO.
In my field I'm doing okay. I did some work that's not mine lately and I know that the cobbler should stick to his last....if that's the correct expression

This weekend I took my bike for the first time this year. It felt good after almost one month not riding. In fact I have so many things to do that I didn't miss the bike riding at all. There are other things on my mind.
I read a couple of books and I realize that I will have to do that more often.
But television attracts my attention to much.... European championships speed-skating and a part of the TV-series Rome

plague

Bird flu.. written about, really a threat for birds, Panic in Turkey.
When does it enter Europe? Will it be panic here too?

There might be a book in it.... a rewriting of the old testamony. It spreads and may become pandemic some day. Then it's one of the seven plagues. And after that? Then time will be right to write a book about it.

train-conversation

When I travelled home yesterday afternoon I heard someone talking over the phone about their New Year's party.

- Hi, awake already?
- No not really, I'm dreaming a little.
- what do you think about the party. It was good, wasn't it?
- Yeah, it was.
- Now he has a lot of dishes to wash.
- Yeah, okay last year it was my problem.
- What time did you leave?
- Well just after you, about 5.30 am. I went home, slept until noon, took a shower and now I'm on the train.

This is really a standard conversation

Resolution

The resolution I'll make here is that I will watch programmes of a higher standard then I used to do. So the quality will be higher and the quantity will be less.
Tonight I'll watch Rome, a broadcast of the BBC. It's a series of about 12 episodes I hope :).

Happy New Year.

A new day in a new year and everything was so quiet this morning.
Yesterday we played another game of the settlers of Catan. It was a fanatic game and we were still playing the second game when it was almost 2006. But suddenly the winner showed her cards, the points she'd collected during the game. My mother won for the second time on New Year's eve.
It was time for champagne.
Happily this time we were no television slaves for the night. I don't know what we've missed. The world doesn't collapse when your not watching everything.
So my new year's resolution is to watch less television. That saves an enormous amount of time.
