Short breaks give new ideas.

Tuesday, well this day started rainy but now the sun shines at last. September will started sunny and bright with temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius. This will make my weekend. This is also a good week to have a short break. Thursday September 5th , Friday and Monday I'm off duty. I want to cycle a lot.

Why do I want that? Maybe it's a kind of escapism because there is so much to do inside my house. I got to paint several things, fix lighting on the ceiling, clean-up the cellar and my balcony (the seasonal flowers are almost rotten away because of the awesome rain in the last month (this was the worst rainy august in 150 years)).
Maybe it's because this is the last long enough sunny warm period of the year to cycle.

Maybe it's because short breaks give new ideas. Every weekend I have the chance to refill and on Monday work goes easily. Not that I'm stressed at the end of the week but you're focusing to much on a few thing. Then I get a very narrow minded person. So my dishes won't be cleaned and are piled up in the kitchen till I need to wash them. (I'm very very old fashioned concerning a dish washmachine. It's good to do your dishes manually. It give time to think. It's also cheaper.)

In October the employees of the municipality I'm working in have the possibly to sign a bill of integrity. I'm laughing at it. I won't sign it.. It's worth nothing. Integrity comes from within. Also it doesn't matter if you've signed the bill or not. If you did something wrong according integrity, the "punishment" will be the same. You're not a different employee.

Wauw Sarah Hackerman, she's young, fresh, a weirdo and becoming a young woman. Watch her grow...

Glad to be European

I'm glad to be european, to be Dutch, cauz nothing nothing really happens here.
We are a proud and hyperactive society of 16 million individuals, 2 million less then New York-North, east and New Jersey, Long Island.
Wow isn't that great. And btw we got 20 medals already.
Concerning the Olympics-medalscore we are allright, we are okay, we definitely can compete the USA.
That's a fault of Georgie W Bushie. He doesn't make you better.
He just makes things worse.
Our Mickey Mouse (mr. Balkenende, Dutch prime Minister and adept of George W.) is the same.
Well it's funny to read the tags of George W. in person on Sarah's blog on

No satisfaction?

Mmmm (satisfaction) This weekend I cycled from Utrecht to Woerden and back. A trip of 31.82 kilometers. I did it in 1.00'.15''. That's an average of 31.71 kilometers an hour. It's maybe the best average in an hour so far on this old bike. My maximum wasn't extreme with 40 km/h.
But the sunday was the day of my second ride with the pack. Well, I just rode it in 3.24'.31''. 90.43 K , avg 26.53K and the max was 47K.
That brings my total distance to 25.722 kilometers. This year I rode 2033 kilometers. I must go on......to go around the world. Posted by Hello

bladerunner

Last Sunday, 15 August, I cycled with a pack of bladerunners. They call themselves 'Ledig Erf'.
The trip was about 80 kilometers. The pack quickly broke and after 40K I lost the 4th group. There were some slower cyclist and even they go fast. However I left them far behind. So the second part I cycled on my own. It wasn't bad because I was overwhelmed by the strenght of the pack. But tomorrow I'll do it again.
Yesterday though I raced 31.82 kilometers in an hour and 15 seconds. Not bad for an amateur on a Giant oversized hybrid all terrain bike.
Total distance 25.632 kilometers, of which in 2004 1933 kilometers.

wealth, health and poverty.

The ticket to the tropics has been given away. Greece has it I think. With the next Olympic games, which will be opened tomorrow, it will be warm. I wonder how it would be here in the Netherlands with those temperatures for such a long period of time, people will be killed.

My downstairs neighboor would be killed by a strike of the heath... In the last ten days I hardly saw her, the heath-wave you know... She locked herself up with dog and parrot. Doors were closed and I should not play my music. She has health problems and because of a bronchitus she had to stay in bed. (in a non-airco house it is a crime) This is poverty as well as health and it also represents wealth because she has everything she needs, a daily paper, a furnitured kitchen, plenty of roomspace. The only thing to worry about is her health. Well other people could do that for her...

Today I had my cycle tyre been repaired. It's not something I do myself.
Next sunday I wanna ride with a group of more or less fanatic cyclists, just wanna give it a try.
Yesterday evening I wanted to cycle a couple of kilometers when I discoverd some damage to the tyre. It wouldn't be wise to wait for another 50 kilometers to repair it so I only made a track of 15 kilomters on wednesday and it only took 1/2 houre.
Total distance: 25.488 kilometers. This year's total 1790 kilometer.

The heath goes on......

What a day... It's so hot in- aswell outside. Today I started my work at 7.30 and at 10.00 temperature inside the office has rissen to 26 degrees celsius. The airconditioner couldn't handle it.
At 13.00 pm the temperature outside was 32 degrees, inside still 26. I didn't move. That was the best thing I did for today.
Strangly it's a very dry air. Maybe because the wind is SE. You will sweat but not so bad as yesterday and the days before. In the Netherlands we got an official heath-wave. A period of 5 days of which 3 are 30 degrees or more and all are 25 degrees or more. Most reporters don't know that. Posted by Hello

American politics, foreign Policy

Foreign Policy: If I Were President; Addressing the Democratic Deficit

Banking holiday?

Today I went to my bank to talk about changing the place of my bank. Where I'll do my business and who will be my accountmanager. Well I met a -she- and she might be the right person to do business with. Why the title? Because I gave my bank and myself enough time to oversee the market and do nothing.. Posted by Hello

Summerday

Today it was a hard day's work. I had to think more and move less. And drink a lot of water.
However my office is airconditioned, it got warmer and warmer during the day. At 4 pm I decided to go home. Happily I am not really bound to a time schedule. Outside the building it was around the 28 degrees Celsius. I cycled home and 5 minutes later I was in. I wrote a letter to transfer my mobile phone subscription into a pre pay phone. That saves me an enormous amount of money.
After I posted the letter and did some shopping I prepared myself for some cycling.
I did 22 kilometers in 44 minutes, a part throught the city centre and partly through the outskirts. For me thats enough, I'm satisfied for today.
