SUBJECT TO A HUGE POWER DISTURBANCE MY LATE NIGHTTRAIN DOES NOT RIDE. I AM 2OO KILOMETERS FROM HOME. THIS IS NOT OKAY BECAUSE I WANTED TO CYCLE BUT MAYBE SUNDAY IS A FINE DAY TOO TO RIDE WITH THE REMAINING RIDERS. NOW I'M PLAYING COLONISTS OF CATAN. NEVER MIND IF YOU NEVER HEARD ABOUT IT.
FOR TONIGHT HOPEFULLY TRAINS RIDE ON TIME. WELL NOW IT'S TIME FOR REVANCHE. JAN
Standing on top of the world I see ....... Life is like climbing a mountain and cope with difficulties and setbacks, resulting in enjoying the perfect view. Eventually that's what this blog is about. With a smile I say it's climbing Maslows mountain.

She is optimistic....
Colleagues who have been to her said that she talks as much as in the old days. Still enjoying football, enjoying life.
My boss though mailed those who missed the verbal update that she could see tears in her eyes.
My hospitalized colleague wants as much visits as possible, why I don't know.... oh yes, I got a feeling but don't want to say it. I'm much too pessimistic and don't want to break her optimism.
Tomorrow her friend will visit the office...then the results of the photo's and scans will also be clearer I think.
This has to wait till Monday before I know it or I call the office for a brief update tomorrow.
It's a little bit sadness at the office.
A growing sadness, every week a little bigger

Hospitalized
The doctors think differently about the operation I understand. It might work but also then she has cancer all over the body and if that is not being stopped, the extra pain of a brain drain might not be worth it. I mean for people around her, for Bea this is a possibility to battle. And if she fights it she won't quit.
Her friend sees the hopelessness of her situation but will support Bea to the end in that ever decision she takes. Friday her friend will come to the office. I wonder what he has to say and how we can support him.

D-day
a. If her doctors say no treatment is possible anymore she will die in a few months.
It means a choice for quality of life, said an ex-colleague who happened to be at the office.
b. If her doctor give her another chemo therapy it will be aimed at the head. If that therapy succeeds she could live another few years. This depends on a surgery of tomorrow whether the fluids in the head are not blocked. If that is the case the chemo can not continue. In that case it means point a.
The mayor view is that she will continue with point b. So tomorrow is D-day.

matters
After we heard that Friday was a very bad day after being hospitalized, we were also told that her doctor told her and her friend that she might die.
Saturday though she felt wonderful in her hospital room. She had a spinal-drain to get rid of the fluids which cause a severe headache.
As we know the cancer in the fluid could be everywhere in her body the doctors are honest about her possibilities to survive. Her friend was told that she will die from cancer.
That is the news as we know it. We were told that if we want to visit her we could. 2 Of my department went to the hospital to visit her.
Also, yesterday my hits-counter registered 1 hit more from the US than the Netherlands. I think that the blogexplosion does a large part of the adding. I wonder if these readers are serious or if they want to read the page in 30 seconds minus loading time.
Photo's do help also to get more traffic. The bad thing is that Picassa nor the add-image icon works; But at last it works again
Grrrr

Ride
To prevent my condition goes completely down I decided to ride with the C-group.
I had some problems with my distance counter and it made me to stop a few times.
The group didn't stop and that forced me to do my utmost to get back.
I can tell you that is exhausting. Luckily at the the start of climbing the last hill I was back.
Across the dike I kept my own pace and after Wijk bij Duurstede I saw the group riding away from me. More riders couldn't keep pace with the majority of about 10 men.
I conclude that this was a perfect race for me keeping in mind that on October 8 and 9 we got trials again. I got to build it up for that weekend.

cancer
My colleague Bea, about who I wrote several times now, has been hospitalized last Thursday. She had severe pains. It felt as if she was going to die she said after being hospitalized.
It is in fact not better, but her situation worsened, fluids in her head gave her headaches. Now these fluids have been drained and examined. It appears that cancer cell are in the fluid too.
I know nothing about it, only that it doesn't sound good.
The only good thing is that she is in hospital where skilled people take care of her. Her family can have some rest too.
At work someone stated that this is palliative care taking. I don't think so...but this cancer is spread rapidly through the body.
I hope I could say something positive about Bea's situation.
Something like what she said after the day-trip at Sept. 1, I'll be back

time isn't our friend
This causes other problems, so we can say that even without bin laden (no capitals) there might be a serious world crisis.
Spoken about bin laden, this crisis might give him and his allies an opportunity to infiltrate in our world more easily because budget for secret services might be frozen.
Less attention will be paid to those elements in our society simply because Secret Services don't have the means to do so. I could be possible that the extremist side is growing faster than the means of the Secret Services, Police and legislature. That would be a bad thing for our world of today.
However I read that in Europe a lot of terroristic attacks were prevented.
It was even before 2001 that attacks were anticipated. But then why was the whole fundamentalistic Islam not determined before as tres dangereaux. Saudi Arabia is such a country, dangerous and supported by the US. It could be a second Iraq.

Lovely Rita?
Just a moment ago I heard a dutch woman with a baby 80 miles inland from Houston.
She couldn't decide whether to go or stay at home. Traffic is a complete chaos and that discourages her to take the car and go with the flow. Natives in her neighborhood stay at home, so she too chooses for certainty and hopefully she's save out there.
Yesterday's cycling was bad. Today I bought new plates for under my cycling shoes.. tonight I going to cycle again I think. Still have to buy a spare inner-tube and buy food.
On are some photographers who are doing well. I'm there too. Look at the side-bar.

For the 4th week in a row the weather is excellent. The summer was not really good at all but when it ends at Sept. 23 it will have a strong finish.
My mother is on a trip in the Netherlands and has good September weather. Today I could my repaired bike and I cycled for an hour after work. Okay it was a good trip.
It's a pity I met an arrogant car driver..... or was it me who was arrogant? I spit on, let's say, the ground and that made that man furious.
After a busy day I conclude everything is business as usual. Work, grocery, cycling, television and internet.
Work isn't the worst thing but it is all the same I must find new challenges in it.

Come on Bea, fight for it!
This afternoon there was a flaw in my attention to my work. I had to concentrate on the input. And the environment stimulated me so much that I felt I was back on high school telling jokes which were really clueless, or telling serious matter which was fun after-all. But at the end of the day I've done most of the work and there will be some for tomorrow.
For other colleagues it's like they're in the doldrums. It means the end of summer, there ain't many people who ask for a provision in August, September. Maybe my colleague and I are in the doldrums at Christmas time, knowing there is a time lack between work in the front-end and the back-end of the office.
There is some news about our colleague Bea with breast-cancer. It's her birthday today.
Our boss called her at home. Bea's daughter answered the phone. It's very difficult for a child of 16 seeing your mother suffering like she does.
After her latest chemo-therapy Bea is in a very bad condition. She doesn't drink and eat anymore, has severe pains all over the body and the morphine she uses tears her down, just as I saw in the past with someone else. That's horrible.
I hope that in the meantime she will recover and get a bit better than she is now. She must eat again. But in fact if she can withstand this torture.
Thursday she will be transfered to a hospital. My hope is that she can recover at home and that the ambulance won't be necessary.

To late to blog on September 17
What the heck with it. That doesn't interest as much as the few kitchens I saw, the bed I wanna have, the table I also have to buy as well as new curtains, the fridge, etcetera.
My goodness I need a complete new household. They never told me when I was born. ;-)
I made some nice pics cycling in the afternoon. I don't do that very often on Sundays because I got to ride with the team.
Here I didn't know what happened to the camera and photo-ed the ground.
I also made a picture of the underwater life in a ditch with rudders or roaches. a close -up of mais, a special cow, a lakenvelder. My mug at work has it's image. There is a photo of the watertower en route the ledig-erf track. And a portray of the writer of this log.

Home early
I also found a copy of an invoice which should have been paid months ago. Despite my efforts to get the invoice payed, I didn't succeed. That's why it was in the tray work-to-do.
Well when went to the colleague who should order me to pay. He would let me pay the copy of the invoice. I refused to do that. My stubborness was too much for me. I didn't feel free to talk and take a break or whatsoever.
I just turned to the figures as a sort of shelter for the day.
After work I went to the bank-shop. I needed to legitimize myself, just that. But my legitimation wasn't okay. I offered my drivers licence. It was expired almost 2 years. Okay, my passport then? I should have waited not much longer and that was also expired.
The bank told me that it might mean new exams for a new drivers license. But that appeared to be untrue.
So what I'm gonna do now (next Monday) is to continue my license.
Have a nice weekend all of you.

drugs
The woman has been released Wednesday night. What is said in the press conference is that the kidnappers wanted 300 kilo's in cocaine.
Where could somebody get some much cocaine without connections in that circuit?
It is said that these kidnappings happen daily in the drug-scene. Is she part of that scene? No, I van't imagine.
Chemistry can make drugs. Well, this might be a connection between the family concerned and the kidnappers.
That the family became part in the drug scene is of course a pure incident. No this cannot be true but police is also investigating this possibility.

Kidnapping
In the late seventies and early eighties we had some abductions. Only one had a fatal outcome.
Before the weekend in Amsterdam the 37 year old daughter of a wealthy businessman, number 36 in the Dutch Quote 500 list of most wealthy Dutchmen, was abducted.
It's not clear to me if it is for any reason, if money is involved or other reasons I don't know.
There might be other reasons. Her father has a chemical factory involved in illegally supplying raw material for nerve gasses for the regime of Saddam Hussein in the eighties. (remember the chemical attacks on Kurds)
My vision it could have a link with that business and the Kurds in Hollands and Europe.
If that would happen to my family and people I would have taken revenge.
May even at and earlier stage, but that thought only weakens my first thought of the link between...
this building is called the wild west and is really suitable for the described present situation

Work
bikers close to the central train station
The internal accountant is visiting us and checks some accounts. He's trying to understand the balance between the system, the payments in the computer and what is in the files. He's got problems with our accountancy because much is in the heads of consultants.
That's work...not my work... However it's our problem if we cannot find a balance between the figures and the registration in the files.
The shops in Lombok
a Lombok flowerist
Well there they sat... three persons earning quite a lot wondering were the figures came from. I say, experience that and learn from it. I had my camera with me, so maybe I should have asked them to look into the camera.
It was such a waste of energy and efficiency.
Afterall I had a perfect day myself. The day started with sun and ended with sun:
on my way home

I know....
...a little more about my camera now. I made some photo's not using 2 mbyte but only 150 kbyte or less. These photo's can be placed on fotothing. That's really funny.
Also the photo's can be uploaded faster via the G-drive, It's the G-spot of the brain ;-)
I made some macro's and several photo's on my bike home.

FRIDGE & 9-11
IT IS TRUE MY FRIDGE IS ALMOST 2O YEARS OLD, NEVER BEEN PROPERLY CLEANED, USER LOTS OF ENERGY AND IS NOT SAVE AT ALL ACCORDING TO TODAYS STANDARDS. TO BE SHORT, I NEED A NEW FRIDGE TOO.
O, it's 9-11 the day that shocked the world. Well after that many things happened.
For example the war on terror which cost humanity more than 3,000 lives.
And what did the world win?
120,000 People died in a natural disaster and still there is no tsunami warning system in the Indian Ocean between India, Indonesia and Africa.
Still hurricanes damage large parts of the US and the black community of the New Orleans area is suffering the most.
Where is justice in this world if Peter Hoekstra, a born Dutchman, is member of the US Congress and stands for the policy of US president Bush?
Bush should be impeached by now. He is completely incapable of his task.

IKEA
ITS TRIAL AND ERROR TO TYPE ON MY HANDY IN ENGLISH. TODAY I AM GOING TO FIND A SUITABLE BED.
Ha ha no way, I didn't go to mall specialized in beds, kitchens, living rooms and decorations. I went to the cycle shop to have my racing bike repaired. The guarantee end the end of this month and my bike makes some noise. It has to do with the crank. They oiled it and fastened it on one side.
Tonight I'm gonna eat some Chinese food, Ku Lu Yuk from Lin Far
Tomorrow the race can continue.

RECORD
I REALIZED this afternoon that the time I cycled yesterday evening was really fast. However I assumed this afternoon that my average was 43 k/hr. It appeares now to be 40.85 k/hr That is less impressive.
I know that a lot of cyclists are not interested in averages. They train for example on on a low gear with a high rotation. In a tour they're able to keep that rotation even with a higher gear. It's something what Armstrong did.
Well let me do it my own way.

Racing on a cycle track
Well the first 17 k were fast. There were at least 40 people riding around like madman. I never experienced that. The track is 1.4 k and they rode under the 2 minutes per lap. At least it's an average of 45 k/hr.
After 17 I rode my on my own (38 k/hr) and after 56 minutes 32.9 seconds I had cycled 38.50 k. That's an average of 40.85 kilometer an hour.
This makes my day complete.
When I came home by the way. I heard a loud noise of airplanes and looking up I saw two or three formations of 4 F16's passing by, followed by a Boeing or something like that followed by 3 F16's.
I read on www.nu.nl that is was to honour a chief of air-force base Soesterberg. It's a bit over the top.

The time trial
And I was 4th
6 kilometer in 9 minutes 40 seconds. That results in 37.241 kilometers an hour.
It means 57 seconds faster than April
I could have gone faster, but who cares?
The winner did it in 8'57"
Spoken about Trial. Saddam Hussein does still have to face trial even if he committed the gaz attacts on the Kurds in Northern Iraq.
He's still a tiran. No wonder that in his country there was no crime. Tirans have children like Evil, Hatred, Fear, Uday and so on. But the tiran is everywhere. But mostly he is at his best at unstable places. In countries where his children Evil, Fear and Hatred already are.
Thats why the only way to end attrocities in Iraq is to send stabilzation Forces and to start a Charm Offensive to win the hearts of the common Citizen.

It's a summerday
The air-conditioner in the bus to Rotterdam made some of us sick.
Not me, I only got a twisted wrist. I don't know what happened but all sudden I got it yesterday. Tonight I slept with an ankle bandage around my wrist to keep it stable. Maybe it worked it was able to type today... and that with more than 1 finger. ;)
I had a typing class when I was on the secondary school. I didn't have do the final test because I was hardly capable to type with my left hand due to brain damage.
I attended that class and I learned some basics. IN fact now I try to type more or less the 10 finger system. But doesn't work outr that way because the righthand side is quicker and I'm right oriented.
It's not a real problem. I know that many more type with less than 10 fingers, if not all of us.
Tomorrow is a tuesday. I think I gonna try the time trial with the Nightingale riders, just to improve my last years time.

Ha ha cycling and a sunny sky
Lately I also calculated that my wages has gone up almost 2.5 % because of being another year on duty. This is without the 1% agreed upon last week.
And of course I have cycled another 90 kilometer. This week I rode a total of almost 300 kilometer.....(ipot)
The weather was good and I got some sleep.

democrates
Our world one hundred years ago can be seen as undemocratic.
Happily anyone can start an own business and can travel all the way one wants.
Now our civil rights are tightened again. We have to identify ourselves on the streets. Secret Services can do their work again without having permission of Civil Authorities.
But nowadays you can do really anything if you want. Okay there are Secret Services, but what the heck with them. Just be a Muslim and a Joker and you may bomb yourself.
According to Jason Burke everyone can start his own Al-Qaeda. Why? Because Al-Qaeda doesn't exist as a central organised organisation anymore. Al-Qaeda is a dark amorphous entity which is an inspiration for the on Islam based terrorists.
It's easy for Al Zawahiri (in 2005 the second man of Al-Qaeda) to claim the terroristic attack. Al Qaeda sew the seeds for terrorizing the world, to set up complete populations against eachother.
It's an ideology Burke tells us in his book, Al-Qaeda, the true story of radical islam

Working, cycling, working, cycling
This blog is not a true reflection of my life but it is an addiction to write everyday something in my blog. Something that is important to me or is not at all important. I should not say it has no meaning.
This morning for instance I saw a video message of a London suicide bomber. He came forward to me as a determined man in his late twenties who knows what he wants. That's why this is so dangerous. These guys are more or less educated. Why are they so disappointed in life to commit suicide and kill some others with them.
They had jobs, apparently no social life.
I heard a researcher saying that these youngsters could slip away to fundamentalism. They got something to lose. If they are not accepted in our West European society it might go wrong.
Today I worked on the control of the maintenance cost another company is charging us. It looks okay to me. There are few clients who are not known by them. The cost they charge us seem to be reasonable.
After work it was still fine weather (since last Sunday we still got summer in town/ country). It could last till next Wednesday.
It was time to ride my lungs out, so I thought to go to the cycle track.
At the track it appeared to be used by others (skaters). That's why I did a time trial of an hour. I made 34.53 kilometer in 1 hour and 17 seconds. That makes an average of 34.367 kilometer.
By the way, the spell checking on the google bar makes more sence than blogspot's.

satisfied
The picture of the Building is the former office of the Holland America Line from where thousands of emigrants on the continent in Europe sailed for New York to start a new life in North America.
